The CPN (Maoist Center) and the CPN (Unified Socialist) have signed an 18-point agreement on unification.
Eight parties, including the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist, reached an 18-point agreement on Sunday.
Maoist Center Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.
They have agreed to use a five-pointed star as the election symbol. However, the name of the party after unification has not yet been decided.
CPN General Secretary Chiran Pun, CPN (Socialist) Chairman Raju Karki, Janasamajwadi Party Nepal Chairman Subas Raj Kafle, Nepal Samajwadi Party Chairman Mahindra Raya Yadav, CPN (Maoist Socialist) Chairman Karnajit Budhathoki, and CPN (Communist) Chairman Prem Bahadur Singh also signed the agreement.
The agreement states that the party's guiding principle will be Marxism-Leninism. Similarly, it mentions that a unity national general convention will be organized within the next six months.
