Former president Bhandari named UML senior leader

The CPN-UML has appointed former president Bidya Devi Bhandari as a senior leader of the party.

According to a party leader, Chairman KP Sharma Oli presented the proposal to make Bhandari a senior leader during Thursday's central committee meeting, which was subsequently approved.

Discussions regarding making Bhandari a senior leader also took place during the secretariat meeting earlier on Thursday.

Bhandari is a former vice-chairperson of the UML.

After leaving office as president, she had renewed her party membership, saying she would return to active politics within the UML. She had said that she would continue her political journey while remaining with the UML. However, the party had put her membership renewal on hold for some time.
