The Health Insurance Board has suspended health insurance services, except for emergency care, at private healthcare institutions, citing a financial crisis.
Shakuntala Prajapati, acting executive director of the board, issued a notice stating that the suspension of health insurance services at private healthcare facilities – excluding emergencies – will take effect from May 30.
Keeping the growing financial crisis in mind, a board meeting on May 25 decided to halt health insurance services in private hospitals, with the exception of emergency treatments.
"Until further notice, the government has decided to suspend all health insurance services provided through private healthcare institutions enrolled in the health insurance program, except for emergency services, effective from May 30," the notice issued by the board states.
