Floodwaters again surged in the Trishuli River on Sunday, sweeping away a suspension bridge connecting Charaundi in Dhading with Ghyalchowk in Gorkha.
The bridge connected Ward No. 7 of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality in Dhading with Ward No. 8 of Gandaki Rural Municipality in Gorkha. With the bridge washed away, local residents are facing difficulties crossing the river.
Kokil Bahadur Pulami Magar, ward chairman of Gandaki Rural Municipality-8, told Setopati that the Trishuli flood had swept away the bridge.
“The tower on the Charaundi side of the suspension bridge has been washed away, while the tower on the Gorkha side has tilted a bit,” he said.
Local residents said that Sunday’s flooding also damaged a cooperative building and a school in Charaundi.
The flood on August 26 had not caused damage to the bridge, cooperative building, or other structures.
