Nepali Congress leader and former minister of energy, water resources and irrigation Deepak Khadka has claimed that he has no ownership in Khadka Land Development Pvt Ltd.
Khadka Land had occupied the land belonging to Nepal Scouts at Lainchaur, Kathmandu, for a long time. As the company neither paid the rent for the land nor vacated the structures, the Ministry of Youth and Sports sought assistance from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Thursday to vacate it. On Thursday, the KMC demolished the structures built by Khadka Land located there.
Following this, former minister Khadka issued a press release stating that he has no ownership in Khadka Land.
“My serious attention has been drawn to the news reports in various media outlets linking my name to the Nepal Scouts’ rent dispute. News repeatedly published and broadcast in various media outlets with the intention of assassinating my character by associating my name with Khadka Land Development Pvt Ltd, in which I hold no ownership at all, has caused serious harm to my personal and political life,” he said.
He further accused certain groups of defaming him by dragging his name into the issue for their short-term personal interests and engaging in political vendetta against him.
"My life is like an open book. Everything about me is transparent and accountable. I earnestly request the media world, which serves as the fourth estate of the state, to publish truthful, factual, and impartial news," he said.
Khadka Land had also issued a statement on Thursday, claiming that the former minister has no ownership in the company.
