Police have reported that 23 people, including three police personnel, were injured during the teachers' protest on Sunday.
According to Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara at the District Police Range, Kathmandu, a clash between police and teachers in the New Baneshwar area of Kathmandu on Sunday left 23 people injured.
The injured include three police personnel, one journalist, and 19 teachers. They are currently receiving treatment at Trauma Center, Civil Hospital, and Everest Hospital.
Sabina Karki, a journalist with Prime Time Television, sustained an eye injury. She has been referred to Tilganga Hospital after initial treatment at Trauma Center.
SP Bohara said that the protest caused damages worth around Rs 100,000 after protesters broke through police barricades.
However, the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, which is leading the ongoing teachers’ protests, has claimed that 61 teachers were injured in the clash.
Teachers from across the country have been staging protests in Kathmandu every day since April 2. They have demanded that the government immediately implement previous agreements reached with them and issue the School Education Act.
