Unidentified dead man in Birgunj tests positive, death toll up to 17

The unidentified body found at Ghantaghar area of Birgunj has posthumously tested positive for COVID-19.

Coordinator of Narayani Temporary Hospital Dr Udaya Narayan Singh told Setopati that the report of the man around 25 years in age that arrived Friday evening showed he was infected. The body is still at the hospital and will be cremated as per the protocol for COVID-19 deaths.

The unclaimed body was found on Wednesday, according to Chief of Parsa Police SP Ganga Panta. The youth's identity has yet to be known.

The hospital has already informed the Health Ministry about confirmation of infection but the ministry has yet to announce it.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths has now reached 17.
