CPN-UML has sent the names of persons to be elected for House of Representatives (HoR) through proportional representation (PR) system to the Election Commission (EC) on Sunday. A standing committee meeting of UML held Sunday afternoon finalized the names.
The list of 41 persons includes 37 women to comply with the mandatory provision in constitution that requires each party to have at least one third women representatives in the federal parliament.
Mukunda Neupane (Khas Arya), Bijay Subba (indigenous ethnicity), Mohan Baniya (backward) and Moti Lal Dugar (Madhesi) are the only men included in the list.
Radha Kumari Gyawali, Shanta Chaudhary, Ram Kumari Jhakri and Nabina Lama have also been included in the list.
The list includes Tham Maya Thapa, Shiv Maya Tumbahamfe, Sujita Shakya, Beena Shrestha, Tulsi Thapa, Shanti Maya Tamang Pakhrin, Kumari Meche, Beena Devi Budhathoki Magar, Binda Pandey, Goma Devkota, Kalyani Kumari Khadka, Niru Devi Pal, Man Kumari GC, Maya Devi Neupane, Bishnu Sharma, Sarita Neupane, Maina Kumari Bhandari, Tirtha Gautam, Laxmi Kumari Chaudhary, Ganga Chaudhary, Nira Devi Jairu, Bimala Bishwokarma, Bimala BK, Parvati Kumari Bishunkhe, Sanu Shiva, Asha Kumari BK, Juli Kumari Mahato, Pushpa Kumari Karna Kayastha, Sarala Kumari Yadav, Rekha Kumari Jha, Sarita Kumari Giri, Kaalila Khan, Samina Hussein.
The three-day deadline given by the EC to parties to submit the PR list for HoR expires Monday evening.
