Nepali Congress leader and former chief minister of Karnali province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has announced his candidacy for the post of joint general secretary in the party’s 15th general convention.
Shahi said that he announced his candidacy with the aim of raising the voices of people from backward regions and the concerns of communities deprived of opportunities more effectively within the party, while making the Nepali Congress organization more inclusive, stronger, and dynamic.
He appealed to general convention representatives to vote for him for the post of joint general secretary (backward region) evaluating his political career, continued contribution to the organization, experience, and capabilities.
“Your one vote will not only be my personal victory, but also an opportunity to represent the voices and dignity of backward regions,” Shahi said.
Shahi had also contested for the post of joint general secretary at the 14th general convention in 2021. He was defeated by Badri Pandey at the time.
The Nepali Congress’s 15th general convention is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from October 4 to 8.
