The decision of Province 3 government to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of a cable car over the Dhunche-Gosaikunda route in Rasuwa has made the district locals happy.
Though the concept of connecting Dhunche, the district headquarters, with the famous religious site Gosaikunda, via the cable transportation was presented some 15 years ago, lack of electricity here has so far barred possible progress.
The completion of the 22-MW Chilime Hydropower Project here is likely to help materialize the dream of constructing the cable car. The local civil society says the Rasuwa locals are delighted with the Province 3 government recent decision to proceed up with the concept. The construction of eight-kilometer cable car is estimated to cost Rs two billion. Its preliminary report has been already prepared.
All five rural municipalities and some private groups have already expressed their interest to invest in the cable car project. According to local Adhyayan Tamang, they have been given commitments from the some Chinese investors to help in the project implementation.
Gosaikunda that lies at an altitude of 4,380 meters is named after the alpine freshwater lake. The site welcomes a large number of pilgrims every year and local community have believed that the construction of cable car would not only be the convenience of pilgrims/visitors, but also be of a help in promoting local tourism.
Meanwhile, the people of Lamtang are happy over the Province 3 government decision to name the Syafrubesi-Lamtang Kyangjen Tourism area 'Dr Prahlad Yonjan Red Panda Trekking Route'.
Dr Yonjan is the one who conducted research and thus proved the presence of rare wild animal red panda in the forest areas of Mangche of Thulo Syafru.
