Nepali Congress leader Min Bahadur Bishwakarma has clarified that no separate flag or election symbol has been prepared.
Speaking to journalists at the newly opened contact office in Chundevi, Kathmandu, Bishwakarma dismissed speculation circulating on social media about a separate flag and election symbol.
"That flag is from the historic 2007 BS revolution of the Nepali Congress. We have not even considered, let alone prepared, a separate flag or election symbol," he said. "We are working day and night precisely to ensure that such a compulsion does not arise."
He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the establishment faction to resolve the internal differences within the party.
"If they wish, the Chundevi contact office will conduct party activities in unison. However, if the Sanepa Congress shows indifference, those Congress members who are outside may be forced to look for alternatives," he said.
Bishwakarma stressed that if the establishment wants a powerful Congress, it must take along leaders who have made contributions. He also mentioned that efforts were made for reconciliation before the rift in the party.
"There have been no discussions with leaders from the establishment faction since last week," he noted.
Leaders from the faction led by former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba have been holding discussions in Chundevi after opening the contact office recently.
The group is being led by former acting vice-president Purna Bahadur Khadka.
Although discussions were held in Chundevi from July 6 to 8, the decisions from those meetings have not yet been made public.
