Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe has clarified that the party has not formed a "shadow government."
Following reports in the media suggesting the Nepali Congress had established a shadow government, Angdembe clarified that the party has merely appointed coordinators for thematic committees, which cannot be called a shadow government.
He said that these coordinators were appointed for 18 ministries in accordance with the regulations of the Congress Parliamentary Party. He emphasized that it is incorrect to label this as a "shadow government" or "shadow cabinet."
"We have assigned responsibilities based on 18 ministries to members of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly with the sole objective of making parliamentary work more effective, not to establish a parallel structure as an alternative to the government," he said.
He reiterated that the party has not created any structure resembling a "shadow government."
"What we have formed is not a shadow government. The thematic committee coordinators were appointed according to the parliamentary party's statute. It used to be called a shadow government in the past, but that is not the case now," he said.
