Mukunda Shyam Giri, nominated vice-chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has been removed from his position.
RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden relieved Giri of his responsibilities on Friday.
According to RPP spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha, Chairman Lingden relieved Giri of his responsibilities as both vice-chairman and central committee member.
Earlier, on July 9, Chairman Lingden had also removed Nawaraj Subedi as chairman of the disciplinary committee and Sagun Sundar Lawati as party spokesperson.
Vice-chairman Giri, along with Vice-chairman Bikram Pandey and General Secretaries Dhawal Shumsher Rana and Kunti Shahi, had issued a statement on Thursday, criticizing Chairman Lingden’s decision to remove Subedi and Lawati as arbitrary.
Chairman Lingden accused those he had appointed of forming factions and trying to corner him.
The RPP has eight vice-chairpersons. Among them, four were elected through the general convention and four others were nominated by Chairman Lingden.
Giri, who hails from Surkhet, was nominated as vice-chairman by Chairman Lingden on January 30, 2022.
