Nepal has requested Bailey bridges from India, China, and other governments as assistance.
Jagdishor Panday, advisor to Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent letters to the governments of India and China requesting Bailey bridges.
The flood that struck Rasuwa on Wednesday completely damaged 41 bridges, due to which the main road to Dhading has also been disrupted.
The bridge at the Rasuwagadhi border crossing linking Nepal with China was also swept away. Several other bridges, including one in Trishuli, Nuwakot, have also been damaged.
The flood has affected districts including Rasuwa, Dhading, and Nuwakot.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had held discussions with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, and security agencies about seeking assistance from other countries. Following those discussions, the ministry determined that Bailey bridges were urgently needed to restore road connectivity and sent the requests.
According to advisor Panday, the ministry has also told other countries that have expressed interest in providing assistance that Nepal will request specific support based on its needs.
