Chinese Premier Li arrives in Tibet to inspect flood-affected areas

Chinese Premier Li Qiang is set to visit the flood-affected Rasuwagadhi area.

The Chinese Embassy in Nepal said that Li has arrived in Tibet to inspect relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas.

Three people have died, while 558 people remain missing, including 260 foreign nationals, in China after a mudslide-laden flood struck the Lhende River on Wednesday.

China’s Foreign Ministry reported that nearly 100 Chinese citizens on the Nepali side of the flood-affected region along the Nepal-China border are also missing.

At the Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference, spokesperson Lin Jian said that China was in communication with the Nepali side regarding Chinese nationals reported missing following Wednesday’s mudslide-laden flood.
