Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya held talks in Tokyo on Thursday.
The meeting between Minister Rana, who is on a visit to Japan, and her Japanese counterpart took place on Thursday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in Tokyo.
On the occasion, discussions were held on Nepal-Japan bilateral relations and various topics of mutual interest and common concerns, according to the Foreign Minister’s Secretariat.
During the meeting, Minister Rana expressed gratitude on behalf of Nepal to the government of Japan and the Japanese people for their longstanding support in Nepal’s economic, social, and other sectors.
The two ministers also discussed various aspects of the 70-year history of Nepal-Japan relations.
Diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan were established in 1956. Both countries are preparing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year.
On the occasion, Minister Rana invited the Japanese foreign minister to visit Nepal next year to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Minister Rana also urged the Japanese foreign minister to encourage Japanese industrialists and businesspersons to invest in Nepal, highlighting the immense investment opportunities in Nepal. She assured that the Nepali government would provide security and guarantees for foreign investments.
