President Bidya Devi Bhandari has used a helicopter to reach the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) from her residence Sheetal Niwas to leave for state visit of Myanmar on Wednesday.
She has used the chopper to go to the TIA as stopping vehicular movement for her motorcade created crippling traffic gridlocks that are widely criticized.
She left for the five-day state visit on invitation of her counterpart Win Myint.
President will hold bilateral talks with Win Myint who will host a state banquet in her honor. State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will also call on President Bhandari.
She will meet the citizens of Myanmar of Nepali origin in Pyin Oo Lyin and also visit Bagan, a UNESCO world heritage site, and the former capital city of Yangon.
Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali, foreign secretary, secretary at the Office of the President and other high-ranking officials from the Office of the President and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and media persons accompanied President Bhandari for the state visit.
