The government is conducting a survey to arrange temporary housing for families affected by the flood in the Bhotekoshi River.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers stated that the survey has begun to provide separate temporary accommodation for each family currently taking shelter in various holding centers as an emergency measure.
The Department of Urban Development and Building Construction under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has mobilized teams to affected districts starting Tuesday to conduct surveys through a "Needs Assessment Form" using KoboToolbox.
According to the office, this will immediately provide details on affected individuals and families, the extent of property damage (complete or partial), the number of deceased or missing family members, preferences for government-supported temporary shelter or renting, land availability, the best relocation options, drinking water and sanitation arrangements, and other additional needs.
For now, the survey will help the government implement its plans by identifying the needs of every household currently staying in holding centers.
Work is underway to complete the survey within a week. Following this, flood-affected families outside the holding centers will also be surveyed using the same form, the office stated.
