Home Minister Sudan Gurung has urged the old political parties to reform.
Speaking at an event organized on Tuesday in Baneshwar, Kathmandu, to mark the first anniversary of the Gen Z movement, Home Minister Gurung also urged the traditional parties not to disrespect the movement.
“Thirty million Nepali people voted us into power,” he said. “If you insult this movement, you are insulting thirty million Nepali people. Remember that. So, reform yourselves. There is still time.”
Gurung also said that a new Nepal cannot be built with an old mindset.
He said that the demands of the Gen Z movement would be fulfilled.
“I want to tell the entire Gen Z generation that if another bullet has to be fired in this country for our demands to be fulfilled, that bullet will have to go through my head,” he said. “As long as Prime Minister Balen Shah and party President Rabi Lamichhane do not let the hopes of Gen Z die, I will keep alive the faith that good governance is possible.”
He also said that ministers would fall from power only if another bullet were fired.
“No one in this country will dare fire another bullet,” he said.
