The Supreme Court has filed a complaint at the District Police Range, Kathmandu, seeking an investigation into the arson that took place on September 9.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa said that the District Police Range has already begun investigation upon receiving the complaint.
The Supreme Court filed a complaint on a letter pad on October 30, instructing the police to identify and take action against those involved in the arson. However, it has not named anyone in the complaint.
After the Supreme Court sent the complaint, correspondence has been made to other subordinate courts as well to file complaints.
On October 31, the Kathmandu District Court also filed a complaint, said court employee Tirtharaj Bhattarai.
According to him, the complaint estimates the total damage, including the building and other property, at 620 million rupees.
On September 9, arson and vandalism occurred at the Supreme Court in Kathmandu and 22 other courts.
The Supreme Court has written to other courts, instructing them to also file complaints with the police.
Accordingly, most of the courts are preparing to file their complaints this week.
However, the Special Court located in Kathmandu has not yet filed its complaint. Registrar Bed Prasad Upreti said that they are coordinating with the Supreme Court regarding the matter.
"Our building was also set on fire. We will coordinate with the Supreme Court regarding filing a complaint," he said.
On September 9, seven high courts were vandalized and set on fire. These courts are also preparing to file complaints after collecting various details.
According to registrar Yam Prasad Baskota of the Tulsipur High Court, preparations are underway to file a complaint within a few days. The estimated damage there is 280 million rupees.
Registrar Baskota said that the high court is preparing to collect videos and submit them as well.
"We are even making a kind of documentary by collecting various videos. We will submit it along with the videos in a day or two. That will also make the investigation easier," he said.
Courts in Kathmandu, Banke, Rupandehi, Morang, Siraha, Saptari, Kailali, Kaski, Makawanpur, Dang, Tanahun, Chitwan, Kapilvastu, and Sindhuli suffered damage on September 9.
