Delhi Police arrested two individuals, including a Nepali national, in a secret operation carried out from January to March.
According to the Indian television network NDTV, Delhi Police busted a network of ISI sleeper cells and arrested two agents of the Islamic State, including a person of Nepali origin.
According to Delhi Police officials, the operation was conducted in coordination with central agencies.
NDTV reported that police recovered classified documents related to the forces from the accused Ansarul Mian Ansari, a person of Nepali origin.
Delhi Police filed charges against him and another individual in May and both were lodged in Tihar Jail.
According to police, Ansari was arrested in Delhi while attempting to travel to Pakistan.
Ansari had arrived in Delhi at the behest of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), NDTV quoted sources as saying. The ISI had asked Ansari to make a CD of the confidential documents and send it to Pakistan. After his interrogation, another person was also arrested in Ranchi.
According to sources, Ansari revealed that he used to drive a cab in Qatar, where he met an ISI handler.
Later, Ansari was taken to Pakistan, where he was trained by top ISI officials for several days, and then sent to Delhi via Nepal.
