The commission formed to investigate individuals who have held high-ranking state positions since 2006 has extended the deadline for submitting asset declarations.
Issuing a notice on Wednesday, the commission said that it has extended the deadline for the final time until July 16.
"Since many public officials and employees had requested this commission via applications and emails for deadline extension, stating that they had insufficient time to collect evidence and, in some cases, were abroad, the commission has extended the deadline for submitting asset details for the final time until July 16. This notice is published for the information of all concerned," reads the notice, published by the commission on its website.
The commission had previously required all those who have held public office – including former prime ministers and ministers, province chiefs, chief ministers, provincial assembly members, secretaries, joint secretaries, former secretaries/joint secretaries, and advisors to former prime ministers and ministers – to submit details of their ancestral and self-acquired movable and immovable assets. They were also required to submit documents verifying the sources of these assets (including salary, allowances, foreign travel, real estate, share trading, loans from financial institutions, agriculture, animal husbandry, trade, business, and remittances).
Previously, the commission had issued a notice on May 14 giving a 30-day window to submit these documents, which was set to expire on June 14. However, the commission said that it extended the deadline to July 16 due to requests from several public officials.
The commission has instructed individuals to submit their asset declarations and supporting documentation in person, through a representative, via post, or by email to the commission’s official address.
