Gandaki province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey expanded his Cabinet on Wednesday by appointing Nepal Samajwadi Party lawmaker Phanindra Devkota as a minister.
On the recommendation of Chief Minister Pandey, the province chief appointed Devkota as minister for energy, water resources, and water supply. Devkota has already taken the oath of office.
The ministry was previously headed by Nanda Prasad Neupane. According to the chief minister’s secretariat, Neupane has now been assigned the responsibilities of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management, as well as the Ministry of Health.
Both Devkota and Neupane are from Gorkha.
Four ministerial positions had remained vacant in Gandaki province after the CPN-UML withdrew from the provincial government.
