The government has formed a committee to conduct a detailed investigation into 779 electric vehicles that were seized from various locations on suspicion of tax evasion.
Acting on the directive of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, a joint investigation committee was formed on Thursday, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Customs, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force.
According to Dipa Dahal, press and investigation expert to Prime Minister Balen Shah, the government promptly formed the committee to move legal proceedings forward as it remains committed to good governance and protecting state revenue.
She said that the committee has already begun a rapid on-site investigation where the vehicles were seized.
“Since the number of vehicles is large, it may take some time to thoroughly examine and verify all legal documents related to revenue and customs. We request all to remain patient and assured until the investigation is completed,” she said.
She added that the government remains committed to strengthening the national economy and law enforcement.
