Prime Minister Balen Shah has said that his government is committed to improving the living standards of Nepali citizens in a real and visible manner.
During a joint meeting held on Tuesday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers with ambassadors from the European Union (EU) and its member states based in Kathmandu and New Delhi, as well as ambassadors from other countries stationed in Kathmandu, PM Shah said that he fully aware of the urgency of the current moment and the profound responsibility entrusted to them.
According to Dipa Dahal, press and research expert to PM Shah, the prime minister said during the meeting that the recent election results in Nepal had given a clear and decisive mandate for good governance and inclusive economic prosperity, and that policy continuity will be maintained despite the formation of a new government.
“Being new does not mean being completely detached from the past. We are fully committed to preserving democratic values and maintaining political stability, while ensuring that Nepal’s policy direction is clear, stable, and predictable,” he said.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to good governance and inclusive economic growth in Nepal.
The prime minister added that the government intends to leverage the global market to create new opportunities for its people, remains dedicated to fostering innovation by further streamlining procedures to attract large-scale investments, and is committed to achieving sustainable development.
PM Shah also said that Nepal will continue to pursue a balanced and pragmatic foreign policy. "Our relations with our neighbors, development partners, and friendly nations are guided by the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality, and shared prosperity," he said.
He expressed gratitude to all development partners and friendly nations for their continued goodwill and support toward Nepal’s development and prosperity. He also clarified that Nepal is working to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, green energy, climate, tourism, and other key sectors.
PM Shah said that at a time when ongoing conflicts continue to impact different parts of the world, it is ordinary citizens that suffer the most. He therefore emphasized that dialogue, diplomacy, and international law must take precedence over military confrontation to maintain peace.
During the meeting, ambassadors from EU member states based in Kathmandu and New Delhi, along with other diplomats stationed in Kathmandu, praised Nepal for successfully conducting peaceful elections.
They also congratulated PM Shah on leading the new government with a mandate for good governance, economic development, and prosperity. The diplomats expressed their readiness to partner and invest in Nepal across various sectors to foster economic growth and prosperity.
