Government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has said that Prime Minister Balen Shah’s current top priority is focusing on the government’s performance.
Speaking with journalists on Monday, Minister Pokharel clarified that due to the government’s busy schedule for its first 100 days in office, the prime minister is not planning to visit any country at the moment.
Responding to speculations linking the prime minister’s potential India visit with the upcoming foreign trip of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, Pokharel said:
“The prime minister is currently not preparing to visit India or any other country. Right now, we are more focused on the government’s initial 100-day work plan and targets. The party president’s visit may be purely personal or party-related; the prime minister has no connection to it.”
Providing updates on budget preparations, Pokharel said that the Ministry of Finance has expedited work on the national budget.
According to him, most ministries have already submitted their plans and programs, and the budget preparation process is moving ahead in an organized manner.
Responding to queries about tightened entry at Singha Durbar, Pokharel described it a “streamlining process.”
He said, “Procedures have been introduced to better manage and facilitate movement inside Singha Durbar. The goal is to make entry arrangements – such as which gate to use, at what time, and how to enter – more convenient for both the public and employees.”
When asked whether the prime minister would address the upcoming Republic Day ceremony, Pokharel said that no specific discussion had taken place in the Cabinet regarding the matter. However, he said, the prime minister would deliver an address at an appropriate time if necessary and suitable.
