Youth leaders from the anti-establishment faction of the Nepali Congress held a gathering on Saturday.
According to former central committee member Kundan Raj Kafle, the meeting held on Saturday in Sukedhara, Kathmandu, made four major decisions.
Kafle said that the gathering of young leaders was organized for broader party unity.
The gathering decided to convene a meeting of leaders affiliated with the party’s dissolved sister organizations and form central committees, arguing that the party’s dissolution of those organizations had harmed broader party unity.
This decision suggests that the anti-establishment faction is preparing to conduct parallel activities within the party.
The party recently dissolved the ad-hoc committees of five sister organizations that failed to hold their general conventions on time.
Furthermore, the youth leaders decided not to update active party memberships, arguing that they have already been renewed for the upcoming 15th general convention.
The gathering also urged the disciplinary committee to halt actions against party leaders, and decided to launch a nationwide awareness campaign.
The meeting was organized by youth leaders close to former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader Purna Bahadur Khadka, and Krishna Prasad Sitaula.
