Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has expressed objection to the raids conducted at his residence and offices, stating that it has harmed his personal and social reputation.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Chief Minister Baniya expressed his serious concerns regarding the Department of Money Laundering Investigation conducting raids at his home and offices in Hetauda and Kathmandu and seizing documents.
Chief Minister Baniya claimed that he has been working with a priority on good governance, transparency, and building a corruption-free society. He added that he has been continuously working toward cutting provincial government spending and maintaining fiscal austerity.
He also clarified that plans and programs have been implemented transparently based on necessity and merit.
While stating that he views investigations into his political and professional life positively, Baniya expressed dissatisfaction over the "sudden" nature of the raids. He emphasized that he was always willing to appear before any state agency upon request.
He pledged full cooperation with any investigation conducted within constitutional and legal boundaries, and urged the public and his well-wishers not to be misled by the incident.
