The government has declared four people who died during protests in Sunsari and Siraha districts as martyrs.
A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday decided to confer martyr status on Om Prakash Mehta, Jay Prakash Mehta, and Rabindra Kumar Mehta of Sunsari district, and Ganesh Kumar Yadav of Siraha district, government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel said.
The Cabinet also decided to provide a full exemption from the clean infrastructure investment charge and value-added tax (VAT) on ambulances and hearses operated using electricity imported or produced in Nepal.
Pokharel said that the Cabinet also agreed to allow the Portugal government to establish a consular office in Kathmandu.
Similarly, the Cabinet decided to appoint Nirmal Kumar Upreti as executive director of the Foreign Employment Board.
It also decided to release the report on the study and investigation into the purchase and sale of Ncell shares, prepared by a committee headed by former auditor general Tanka Mani Sharma Dangal.
