The government has prepared an 18-point National Commitment Paper by synthesizing the election manifestos of the six national parties represented in Parliament.
The first Cabinet meeting had passed a 100-point agenda of the government led by Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah. The third point of the agenda stated that a national commitment paper would be prepared by integrating implementable agendas from the manifestos of all political parties.
"To institutionally implement the core spirit of the Constitution of Nepal, strengthen the democratic system, and honor the public mandate expressed through the election, a 'National Commitment' will be prepared by synthesizing the implementable subjects included in the manifestos, commitment papers and pledges of all political parties participating in the election, establishing shared ownership of the Government of Nepal," states Point No. 3 of the agenda. "To link this commitment to annual policies and programs, budget, and reform agendas, and immediately implement it, necessary structure will be established under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and assigned responsibility."
The National Commitment Paper was officially published on the website of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on the occasion of Nepali New Year on Tuesday.
The government plans to integrate the points mentioned in the commitment paper into the policies and programs, budget, and reform agenda for the upcoming fiscal year.
For its effective implementation, the secretary overseeing development management at the Prime Minister's Office has been tasked with monitoring it.
