The Kathmandu District Court has remanded Deepak Khadka, a leader of the Nepali Congress and former energy minister, in custody for an additional seven days.
According to the court’s information officer, Deepak Kumar Shrestha, a bench of Judge Jagat Paudel on Sunday granted permission to keep Khadka in custody for seven more days.
Khadka is currently under investigation by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DMLI).
The remand extension on Sunday follows a previous seven-day remand granted by the district court.
The investigation against Khadka was initiated following the discovery of burnt banknotes at his residence on September 9 last year.
