Former energy minister Deepak Khadka, who was taken into police custody for money laundering investigation, has been admitted to the hospital.
According to SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range, he was admitted to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj Monday morning.
The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to keep him in custody for seven days for further investigation. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Khadka Sunday morning, and his interrogation has already commenced.
The court stated that although the process of taking Deepak Khadka's statement has begun, there are still pending tasks related to gathering evidence and conducting the investigation. Consequently, as the Department of Money Laundering Investigation requested permission to keep the defendant in custody and the reasoning appeared reasonable, the court granted an additional seven-day remand starting from Sunday.
The investigation against Khadka was initiated in connection with the currency notes found at his residence on September 9.
