A hearing has been scheduled for March 13 to discuss whether an interim order should be issued in the petition filed against the cancellation of the candidacy of Kishori Sah Kamal, the Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate for Dhanusha Constituency No. 1.
On Monday, a bench of Justice Nripa Dhwaj Niraula summoned the Election Commission for a discussion, stating that it is necessary to hear the commission's side regarding the cancellation.
According to the court’s spokesperson, Joint Registrar Arjun Prasad Koirala, the court has ordered the commission to bring the file containing the March 2 decision to cancel the candidacy when appearing for the discussion on March 13.
"Since it appears appropriate to reach a decision regarding the issuance of an interim order after hearing the Election Commission's side and reviewing the decision made to cancel the petitioner's candidacy, a hearing has been scheduled for March 13 with priority. The defendant commission has been ordered to bring the file containing the March 2 decision to cancel the petitioner's candidacy for that discussion," the order stated.
The Election Commission had canceled Kamal’s candidacy on March 2, stating that the Credit Information Bureau had blacklisted him in a matter related to banks and financial institutions.
His company, Kamal Nirman Sewa Pvt Ltd, had been blacklisted since February 5, 2024, for failing to fulfill obligations to banks and financial institutions.
The Credit Information Bureau blacklists parties involved in cases such as defaulting on bank loans or bounced checks.
Following the cancellation of his candidacy, Kamal filed a petition at the Supreme Court on March 3.
Although Kamal’s candidacy was canceled, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has been receiving the highest number of votes in the ongoing count for Dhanusha-1. After the party led the vote count, the Election Commission on Sunday instructed the Office of the Election Officer not to publish the results.
