The Young Communist League Nepal (YCL), formed after the then Maoists shunned violence and joined mainstream politics, has decided to revive its paramilitary structure.
This decision was made during a central committee meeting of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) affiliated YCL held virtually. YCL Chairman Pushpa Oli stated that a special task force (STF) will be stationed in camps across all 165 electoral constituencies nationwide to ensure security of voters and candidates.
Oli further informed that the meeting decided to establish a mechanism to coordinate with youth, students, and Gen-Z across various parties, as well as to create command centers in every province involving leaders from unified youth organizations.
YCL plans to mobilize youth under the "One Booth, One Hundred Youth" initiative at every polling station, maximize the use of social media, and ensure that local youth are deployed within their respective voting areas.
During the meeting, NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and faction in-charge Ram Prasad Sapkota (Deepshikha) directed the members to play a proactive role in ensuring the success of the upcoming elections.
