Nepali Congress spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that they want the party to move forward united.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday ahead of the party’s central committee meeting, Mahat said that the establishment faction has been holding talks with great flexibility to unite the party, and made it clear that the party will not split because of the current leadership.
He also remarked that the second special general convention currently underway in Kathmandu is not in the interest of either the party or the country, News Agency Nepal reported.
“We want the party to move forward united. Discussions are ongoing. And, the party won’t split because of us, because of the party leadership. The party will not be divided,” he said. “That is not in the interest of the party, not in the interest of the Nepali people, and not in the interest of Nepal. That is why we are trying to unite the party through dialogue with utmost flexibility. They should also come forward with the same flexibility.”
Mahat also appealed to supporters of the special general convention to show flexibility in order to safeguard party unity.
