The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah team have almost agreed to move forward together, according to leaders.
A four-member dialogue committee, comprising two representatives from each side, has largely agreed on the key proposals. However, a final decision could not be reached on Friday.
"We have agreed to move forward together. We intended to finalize it today, but it has been pushed to tomorrow," RSP leader Shishir Khanal told Setopati.
While both sides have refrained from disclosing the exact details of the agreement, an RSP leader revealed that the party has proposed making Mayor Shah the co-chairman and prime ministerial candidate. The proposals also include Shah's team in the party’s central committee.
While the dialogue committee has almost agreed on the proposals, the agreement will be finalized only after a direct meeting between RSP President Rabi Lamichhane and Mayor Shah. Leaders expect the deal to be sealed on Saturday.
Leaders close to Mayor Shah have updated the Desh Bikash Party at the Election Commission with a walking stick as its election symbol.
Mayor Shah has reportedly told his close aides that he will now enter politics through a party.
