The government has decided to recognize the Gen Z movement that took place on September 8 and 9 as a “Janaandolan” (people's movement).
The agreement to be signed between Gen Z representatives and the government in the Sagarmatha Hall of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at 6 p.m. on Wednesday refers to the movement as the "Gen Z People's Movement."
The preamble of the agreement also refers to it as the "Gen Z People's Movement."
According to the information made public by Ram Rawal, press advisor to Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Gen Z representatives and the Nepal government are scheduled to sign an agreement during a signing ceremony.
The government has termed the events of September 8 and 9 as the "Gen Z People's Movement" in line with the demands of the youths who called for and participated in the movement.
Gen Z youths had been demanding a formal agreement with the government to ensure that future governments also acknowledge the spirit and achievements of the movement. They had also demanded that it be officially addressed as a people's movement and documented in writing.
Last week, Gen Z youths had met the prime minister and urged her to finalize and sign the agreement at the earliest. The demands raised by the Gen Z movement have been incorporated into the agreement.
