Writ petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala said that petitions were filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning regarding the House dissolution.
According to Koirala, one petition claims that the government is unconstitutional, while two petitions challenge the House dissolution.
"The petitions are under review. The remaining process will proceed after the review," spokesperson Koirala said.
The Supreme Court building was completely burned down during the Gen Z protests on September 9.
As a result, the Supreme Court had not accepted any new cases since then.
Case files of nearly 80 percent cases were destroyed in the arson. As the old cases cannot be processed immediately, the Supreme Court has decided to proceed with new cases from Tuesday.
The petitions against the House dissolution were filed on the very first day the court decided to accept new cases.
Following the Gen Z protests, an interim government was formed on September 12 under the leadership of Sushila Karki. On the same night, President Ram Chandra Paudel dissolved the House of Representatives on Prime Minister Karki's recommendation.
