Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, on behalf of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has extended an official invitation to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for a visit to India.
Misri, who arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday for a two-day official visit to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Oli at the Singha Durbar on Sunday.
During the meeting, Misri extended an invitation to Oli to visit India, according to the prime minister’s chief advisor, Bishnu Prasad Rimal, who was present at the meeting.
PM Oli thanked Misri for the invitation.
The meeting included discussions on exchange of high-level bilateral visits and various aspects of mutual relations.
The date of the visit has not yet been officially announced by either side. It is said that the schedule for the visit will be made public based on mutual understanding between the diplomatic mechanisms of both countries.
Earlier, sources close to PM Oli had said that the prime minister was scheduled to visit India on September 16 and return home on September 17.
