Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) of the Nepal Army, General Ashok Raj Sigdel, has departed for China.
The Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army said that he left for Beijing on Sunday morning for an official visit.
He is scheduled to attend the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in Beijing. He will return to Kathmandu on September 19.
Before his departure, Sigdel was seen off at Tribhuvan International Airport by Lieutenant General Pradeep Jung KC, chief of the general staff.
The Nepal Army said that the visit is expected to help expand military relations between Nepal and China and contribute to Nepal’s foreign policy through military diplomacy.
A contingent of the Nepal Army also accorded Sigdel a ceremonial guard of honor.
Lieutenant General KC has been assigned the responsibilities of acting chief of the army staff during Sigdel’s absence.
