The Election Review and Party Reorganization Task Force of the CPN-UML began a residential meeting in Kavre on Saturday.
The meeting, being held at a resort in Kavre, is discussing separate reports submitted by task force coordinator and party Vice-chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa and task force member-secretary and party General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
After Thapa submitted a separate report at the task force’s meeting on Friday, the task force concluded that further discussion was necessary.
Thapa expressed anger, saying the task force report proposed removing the party chairman.
In response, Vice-chairman and task force member Bishnu Paudel reportedly advised him to first understand the UML and then become a true UML member, a source said.
According to the source, a majority of task force members support General Secretary Pokharel’s report.
Task force members were reportedly angered by Thapa’s decision to submit another report as a counter to the report prepared on behalf of the task force by General Secretary Pokharel.
According to the source, the meeting at the Kavre resort is preparing to discuss both reports and produce a single consolidated report by Monday.
