The non-establishment faction of the Nepali Congress has deployed central representatives to various districts to carry out ward conventions and other activities under the party’s 15th general convention.
The faction led by outgoing party president Sher Bahadur Deuba has formed a 15th general convention preparation committee and has been conducting parallel activities.
The committee, coordinated by former general secretary Shashank Koirala, has already announced a schedule for holding a parallel general convention.
Under the schedule, ward conventions are set to begin on October 1.
The central representatives will reportedly travel to the districts, help form various committees, and initiate convention-related activities.
However, former minister Sita Gurung, who was appointed as the central representative for Tehrathum, has expressed disagreement. She said that she would remain wherever the Nepali Congress’s election symbol and four-star flag are.
Former acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka, meanwhile, will not participate in the general convention being organized by the Deuba faction.
