Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has urged party leaders and workers who misuse visit visas to refrain from lecturing others on morality.
Speaking during Wednesday's meeting of the House of Representatives, Home Minister Lekhak addressed the questions raised regarding the prime minister's visit to Spain, clarifying that the government decides who accompanies the prime minister on such trips and that the names are made public.
"I’ve heard something—those familiar with the matter would know, and I’m also aware. Honorable Rabi Lamichhane was once a member of this esteemed House. I’ve heard that he once went to the US on a visit visa. If you go as a visitor, it means you’re on a visit visa. Did he go to the US as a visitor or not? If not, then on what visa did he go? Please clarify this," Home Minister Lekhak said.
He also questioned whether one can obtain citizenship in that country after entering on a visit visa.
"Is that not an abuse of the visit visa? And should the party leaders and workers who misuse visit visas preach morality to others?" he added.
