The House of Representatives meeting has been adjourned again.
The House meeting was briefly held on Monday afternoon but had to be adjourned for half an hour following obstruction by lawmakers from the main opposition CPN (Maoist Center), and other opposition parties including Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and Janata Samajwadi Party.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire had postponed the meeting for half an hour, citing ongoing efforts for consensus among leaders. However, the meeting could not resume later.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat issued a notice adjourning the meeting until 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Opposition parties have been insisting on the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over the visit visa issue and the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have maintained that the home minister should be allowed to speak in the House and that another committee is not necessary since the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) is already investigating the matter.
With no agreement among the parties, the House of Representatives session continues to face disruptions.
