The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the House of Representatives has decided to send its investigation report on the Patanjali land case to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
PAC Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel said that the committee’s meeting held on Thursday decided to forward the investigation report on the Patanjali case to the CIAA, News Agency Nepal reported.
“A complaint regarding the Patanjali land case was received by the Public Accounts Committee, and a report was prepared after conducting inquiries at ministries and other places,” Chairman Pokharel said, “It has been decided to recommend to the CIAA for further investigation and necessary action.”
Recently, the CIAA recorded former prime minister and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal’s statement in connection with the Patanjali land misappropriation case.
The CIAA is investigating the sale and purchase of land registered in the name of Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayurveda Company in Kavre, which was acquired under exemption from land ceiling.
In 2009, when Madhav Nepal was prime minister, the Cabinet had approved the purchase of land under the land ceiling exemption. However, the CIAA initiated an investigation after it was found that land exceeding the ceiling was sold, violating the law.
Additionally, Chairman Pokharel clarified that there was no distrust regarding the subcommittee’s report on the Pokhara Regional International Airport, and that it has already been sent to the CIAA for further investigation.
