The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has registered a motion drawing government's attention toward the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Whip of NC Bal Krishna Khand, Whip Pushpa Bhusal and lawmaker Gagan Thapa have registered the motion on Wednesday stating that the government does not seem serious in prevention and control of COVID-19.
The NC parliamentary party issuing a statement on Wednesday said it has registered a motion in the House to draw attention of Health Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal pointing that it is imperative for the House to immediately guide the government to ensure there is no major public health crisis.
The party had also handed over a memorandum letter to Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli drawing his attention toward serious and effective work in prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday.
The recent central committee meeting of NC had concluded that the government has failed in controlling the pandemic. The party had formed a committee under Deputy General Secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat to monitor the impact of COVID-19 and the government response.
The party has also been demanding the details of over Rs 10 billion the government says it has spent on the pandemic be made public.
