The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is set to hold conventions in all seven provinces on the same day.
RPP spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said that the provincial conventions will be held on October 7.
The party has already decided to hold its central general convention in Kathmandu from December 12 to 14. Having nearly completed its district-level conventions, the RPP has now begun preparations for the provincial conventions.
According to spokesperson Shrestha, the party has so far completed district conventions in 72 districts.
The RPP had set a deadline of September 16 to complete district conventions under its original schedule. However, the party has given Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, which were affected by floods, until October 1 to hold their conventions. Jumla and Dhankuta, where conventions are also yet to be held, have likewise been given until October 1.
To ensure the provincial conventions are well-organized, the RPP's central election committee has deployed election representatives to all seven provinces.
According to spokesperson Shrestha, Bharat Pathak has been assigned as the central election representative for Koshi, Rajaram Shrestha for Madhesh, Jayanta Nath Khanal for Bagmati, Amrit Pudasaini for Gandaki, Toran Bahadur Gurung for Lumbini, Ramananda Neupane for Karnali, and Shyam Bahadur Shahi for Sudur Paschim.
Under the RPP’s statute, provincial conventions will be attended by district chairpersons and representatives selected by district working committees; chairpersons of House of Representatives constituencies and representatives selected by their respective working committees; and chairpersons of provincial assembly constituencies and representatives selected by their respective working committees.
Chairpersons of municipal working committees will also participate as delegates to the provincial conventions.
Shrestha said that the RPP has accelerated the process of distributing active memberships and entering membership details ahead of the central general convention. The party has set October 1 as the deadline for submitting applications for active membership and entering the relevant details.
The RPP has a provision to select delegates to the central general convention from among active members on a proportional and inclusive basis. Shrestha said that the party is currently advancing its organizational preparations targeting the central general convention scheduled for December.
