The government has extended the nationwide lockdown until May 7.
The Cabinet meeting Sunday evening has decided to extend the lockdown, that was to end on Monday, by 10 days. The task force formed by the high level coordination committee for control and prevention of COVID-19 to prepare modality for lockdown on Saturday had recommended a one-week extension.
The Cabinet has also decided that essential industries can be operated and works related to development can be done, according to a minister. "The decision says industries can be opened but working procedure for that has yet to be prepared," the minister added. "It has been said that industries can be opened at places without risk of infection adopting necessary precautionary measures."
Another minister said that the government has also decided to take people of Humla stranded in Nepalgunj home on airplanes. They will be tested for coronavirus in Nepalgunj and quarantined for 14 days in Humla.
The government on Saturday had decided to extend shutdown of domestic and international flights, that was to end on April 30, until May 15.
