Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has told the CPN secretariat that bringing ordinances is not a big deal.
Cabinet meeting at Baluwatar Monday passed ordinances about splitting party and quorum in the Constitutional Council that were authenticated by President Bidya Devi Bhandari just hours later in the evening after the Cabinet meeting passed the ordinances.
PM Oli, who is also CPN Chairman, briefed the secretariat meeting convened after the ordinances were passed and defended the ordinances saying they were brought as constitutional appointments were stopped.
"PM said bringing ordinances is not a big deal," CPN Spokesperson and secretariat member Narayan Kaji Shrestha told Setopati. "He said constitutional appointments have been obstructed."
Ishwore Pokharel, Ram Bahadur Thapa and General Secretary Bishnu Paudel supported Oli after the latter gave the reasons for bringing the ordinances, according to a source.
Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Vice-chairman Bam Dev Gautam said there is no use of opposing when the ordinances have already been authenticated. "The ordinances have been authenticated now. PM must have brought them deeming necessary. But they should have been brought after discussion," the source quoted Nepal and Gautam as saying. "Their views were in between."
Another Chairman Dahal pointed that the time and situation for issuing the ordinances were not appropriate. "Dahal, Shrestha and Jhala Nath Khanal said they were not brought in accordance to the system and procedure," the source added.
