Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has said he is soon getting a kidney transplant.
Speaking with editors at his official residence in Baluwatar Tuesday evening, Oli said he has opted for kidney transplant as it is a better option than regular dialysis. "You may ask why transplant. This is to become stronger and run the government for three years," he stated.
He assured that he will remain the PM for the next three years. "There will be no changes in the government. It will work under my leadership. You all friends need not worry about that."
Oli, whose transplanted kidney has stopped functioning, is on regular dialysis in recent times. He underwent plasmapheresis seven times in Singapore in August 2019. Plasmapheresis is a term used to refer to a broad range of procedures through which blood components are filtered outside the body. It was done on PM Oli, who had a kidney transplant 12 years ago, to remove antibodies for immunosuppression.
Oli claimed that he will remain PM for five years instead of taking turn with another CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal as previously agreed on Dahal's proposal. "We should not take discussions, debates and minor differences inside the party otherwise," he opined.
He pointed that the ruling CPN formed after unification of erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) has moved in a united manner and claimed that it will remain united even in the future.
"There are friends who have worked together for 50 years in the party. There are friends who became PM and party chiefs before me. Nobody, therefore, easily obeys instructions," he stated. "It is not like the editor instructing the sub-editors inside the party. One is not obliged to obey others' instructions. But you all can still rest assured that the party has been and will move forward in a united manner."
